The Fall Report in the 10,000 Islands, Naples, FL -September, October, and November 2023

The Fall bite was outstanding with many Redfish, Snook, and Sea Trout in the mix. September’s Snook bite continued to be very strong with many over slot. It did make it very hard to get a slot fish in this season. Tarpon were also in the mix; picking up the same baits, in the same areas. While fishing for snook, chaos always ensues when the unexpected giants show up. The water was still warm as we were getting out of the summer pattern, with the average water temperatures in the mid 80’s. The best baits were the go to Ladyfish and Mullet.

The kids of Fall were taking no prisoners with Mike taking the big fish award for the big 36 inch Snook. He landed it while trying to catch some dinner – Sea Trout. That fish took a Pilchard that was netted at one of the beach areas close to the spot.

The other Mike who was the big winner of Fall, caught the only slot Snook of the season at 31 inches. That Snook took a paddle tail lure off the Mangrove shoreline on the falling tide. Brad took the biggest Snook on the lightest rod on the boat at 38 inches.

So I am giving up one of my Sea Trout spots. Here are just a couple of pictures that my wife Kim took while out scouting on a Saturday morning. If you can figure out where it is, there is always a great Trout bite on the falling tide.

And right on time, the first of the cold fronts started rolling in in November bringing in the Redfish and Sea Trout. The waters cooled to a perfect 78 to 82 degrees, making a great start to winter. I thank you for visiting the site and reading up on the 10,000 Islands fishing reports. Hope to get you out there this season. Until the next post, Tight Lines.

Thank You,

Captain Jim Fortman
